Breeder Beware Seminar – 5th February
Due to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours the decision has been
taken to postpone the above event,
which was due to take place at Stoneleigh tomorrow.
The Committee and speakers are obviously very disappointed to have to make this
decision, but feel that it is
the right one for all involved. We do hope to be able to reschedule the event
for near future and further details
will be made available as soon as alternative arrangements have been confirmed.

Willy Carslake
Many of you will know Lorna and Willy Carslake. I
have received the following news from their son Ru as follows:
My father was admitted to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) just before
Christmas, for a procedure to remove a cancer from around his right eye. Given
his age (79) and his medical history (which includes a heart transplant 15 years
ago), the doctors gave him a 50/50 chance of surviving the operation.
Despite these odds, in my last email from him he said he was looking forward to
the procedure as relief to the constant pain. The procedure lasted 8 hours,
he survived and returned to consciousness very quickly and was soon bossing the
nurses around in his usual good natured manner.
Now, a few days on, I think the anesthetic has worn off, so some pain has
returned and although his spirits are high (considering), I understand he’s
struggling with the isolation and the grim reality of losing an eye, eyebrow and
bone from the right side of his face.
I am in Australia, and except for my mother (who is clearly exhausted) he has no
visitors or messages of good will. I’m not sure if he has internet access, but
if he did I believe he would struggle to use it. My mother is staying at a
cancer support facility near the hospital, so won’t receive any calls to their

The ISAE are taking up the 20% discount for online

It is a very easy system to use. Go to the AHT webshop at
www.ahtdnatesting.co.uk and follow the instructions.
You will be required to register for an account. The next page asks for the
promotional code for the discount.
Make sure you fill in all the boxes required.
If you don't have a microchip number or don't know your KC registration number
put 0000.
We will have a few special swab kits available at the Show for those who do not
use a computer, but these are at the full price (£48).
You can order more of these by phone from the AHT (tel: 01638 555621) at the
full price and pay by cheque when you return them to the AHT.
It is only necessary to test the dogs you intend to breed with.
Online applications for DNA testing for rcd4 will continue to be available at
the full price after the special promotions have finished.
